Aspiring Academics Symposium

"The Advanced Degree Student Association at the Toronto School of Theology invites individual paper proposals for an Aspiring Academics Symposium to be held March 23, 2012 in Toronto. The group will accept papers for two panel sessions of two papers each (four papers total). The Symposium will be ecumenical and inter-disciplinary in nature and as such there is no specific theme that participants are required to adhere to. Organizers invite proposals from AD students in any department that engage in constructive reflection on various Christian topics and concerns. Since the Symposium covers a variety of disciplines, papers should be written for an educated, but not specialized audience. Presentation will be approximately 20 minutes in length. The ADSA requests that only unpublished material be submitted for presentation.

Proposals should include your name, department, institutional affiliation, the title of the proposed paper, as well as a 250 word abstract. If you will require AV access for slides etc. please note this as well.

For guidlines on how to write an abstract you can visit: http://www.cgu.edu/pages/861.asp or http://www.ece.cmu.edu/~koopman/essays/abstract.html

This is an excellent opportunity to begin, or further refine, the cultivation of your academic presentation skills! The Symposium will be moderated and we are requesting that selected candidates submit a completed copy of their paper to the AD office at TST by March 14th, 2012 so students can pick up a copy of the papers before the Symposium in order to formulate thoughtful and insightful comments and questions.

Please submit your proposal via email to board@adsa.ca by no later than January 1st, 2012. Participants selected for particpation will be notified by January 10th, 2012.
